Legacy 48V rack storage with 4.8kWh per module

Build a larger 48V bank around a 100Ah rack battery and 100A BMS.

The RICH SOLAR ALPHA 5 is a 48V nominal, 100Ah LiFePO4 rack battery with 4.8kWh of energy, 100A continuous charge/discharge ratings and an RS485 communication connection. It is a different electrical platform from the newer 51.2V ALPHA 5 PRO and must be matched to equipment that supports its exact voltage and charge window.

Why it stands out

A high-capacity legacy rack battery for compatible 48V systems.

4.8kWh per moduleA single battery stores 4,800Wh nominal, while multi-battery variants can expand capacity in parallel.
Built-in BMS protectionsRICH SOLAR lists overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent, short-circuit and high/low-temperature protections.
Battery communicationRICH SOLAR lists a one-foot RS485 communication cable and a set of parallel cables with each battery.

System fit

Confirm the legacy 48V voltage window and exact inverter support.

This battery is IP20 and intended for a protected indoor environment. Verify inverter charging settings, communication, parallel limits, rack dimensions, DC protection and cable/busbar ratings before purchase.

Good-fit systemsCompatible 48V off-grid and stationary storage systems that explicitly support the ALPHA 5 voltage range and RS485 implementation.
Critical checks52.0–52.5V charge range, 42V discharge cutoff, indoor IP20 location, 100A current limits, rack fit, parallel configuration and handling of a 92.6 lb module.

In the box

What the current product configuration includes

  • Selected quantity of ALPHA 5 48V 100Ah / 4.8kWh batteries
  • 1 ft RS485 communication cable per battery
  • Parallel cable set per battery
  • Integrated BMS and rack-mount battery enclosure

Some multi-battery options include a rack, but RICH SOLAR publishes conflicting rack dimensions and weights. Contact Torven Power before ordering one of those bundles; we will confirm the rack model, dimensions, busbars and included equipment.

Product confidence

Five-year coverage for the black server-rack battery category.

RICH SOLAR’s current limited warranty lists five-year coverage for its black LiFePO4 server-rack battery category. The written prorated schedule, proof-of-purchase, installation, maintenance, exclusions and remedies control eligibility for the delivered ALPHA 5 revision.

Common questions

Before you build around this product

Is this the same as ALPHA 5 PRO?

No. This ALPHA 5 is 48V nominal and 4.8kWh. The ALPHA 5 PRO is 51.2V nominal and 5.12kWh with different settings and certifications.

How many cycles is it rated for?

RICH SOLAR states more than 7,000 cycles at 1C charge/discharge, 77°F and 80% depth of discharge. Actual life varies with operation and conditions.

Can it be installed outdoors?

The current page lists IP20, so it requires a protected environment. Do not treat it as an outdoor weatherproof battery.

Is a server rack included?

Some multi-battery options include a rack. Contact Torven Power before ordering one of those bundles, and we will confirm the exact rack model and included equipment.
