Rack-mounted 48V energy storage

Build a cleaner 48V battery bank, one 5.12kWh module at a time.

The Epoch SR48100H packs 51.2V, 100Ah of LiFePO4 storage into a compact 3U chassis. Self-heating, CAN/RS485 communication and parallel expansion make it a strong foundation for compatible home backup, off-grid solar and rack-based energy systems.

Why this rack battery stands out

Designed for scalable, closed-loop 48V systems

Grow the bank in parallel

Start with 5.12kWh and add matched SR48100H modules as demand grows. Epoch lists plug-and-play parallel expansion up to 32 batteries when the bank is designed and commissioned under its current manual.

CAN and RS485 communication

The BMS can exchange state-of-charge, limits and alarms with supported inverter systems. Correct protocol, cable pinout, DIP settings, termination and firmware are required—confirm the exact inverter before commissioning.

Self-heating support

Internal heating helps bring cells into a safe charging range when incoming charge current is available in cold conditions. It does not remove the need for a protected, temperature-appropriate installation.

Compact 3U architecture

The 17.4 × 18.1 × 5.2 in chassis fits common 19-inch rack and battery-cabinet layouts, helping keep communication, protection and power wiring organized.

A strong fit for protected 48V energy systems

  • Home solar backup: pair with a compatible 48V inverter/charger for selected household loads or a properly engineered backup panel.
  • Off-grid cabins and workshops: build a serviceable rack bank that can expand as solar production and load requirements grow.
  • Professional ESS builds: use CAN or RS485 communication where the chosen inverter protocol and firmware are supported.
  • Cold-climate utility spaces: add charging support for protected garages, barns and equipment rooms where temperatures can fall below freezing.

Installation check

Confirm the complete system before ordering

Dry, protected location required: the SR48100H is IP20. It is not waterproof and should not be exposed to rain, washdown, condensation or outdoor weather.

  • Nominal voltage is 51.2V. Do not connect this battery in series; Epoch lists parallel expansion only.
  • Maximum continuous discharge is 100A per battery, maximum charge current is 70A and peak discharge is 200A for 15 seconds.
  • At 101 lb, the rack or cabinet must support the battery weight and provide safe lifting, ventilation, cable-bend and service clearances.
  • Confirm inverter compatibility, communication protocol, cable pinout, firmware, charge limits and low-voltage settings before energizing the system.
  • Use correctly rated busbars, matched branch cables, individual overcurrent protection, disconnects and qualified installation practices.

Manufacturer protection

6,000+ cycles and an 11-year Epoch warranty

Epoch lists a 6,000+ cycle design life and an 11-year manufacturer warranty for the SR48100H. Coverage, registration, installation and claim requirements are governed by Epoch's current written warranty terms.

Common questions

Can I install this battery outdoors?

No. Its IP20 enclosure is intended for a dry, protected indoor location or a properly designed environmental enclosure.

Will it communicate with my inverter?

It supports CAN and RS485 communication with multiple inverter protocols, but compatibility is model- and firmware-specific. Confirm the exact inverter, protocol, cable and setup instructions before purchase.

Can I add more batteries later?

Yes, within Epoch's parallel-bank rules. Plan expansion early so battery age, state of charge, branch protection, cable lengths, communication and cabinet capacity stay compatible.

Does self-heating mean the battery can charge at any temperature?

No. Heating depends on battery temperature and incoming charge current, and charging remains subject to BMS limits. Follow the current manual and protect the installation from extreme conditions.
