VICTRON SMARTSOLAR MPPT

50A solar battery charging with Bluetooth setup

The 100/50 SmartSolar combines MPPT solar charging with local VictronConnect access for a compatible 12/24V battery installation.

Exact SKU SCC110050210. One controller; solar panels, battery, inverter and installation equipment are separate.

Build solar charging around your battery bank

The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/50 regulates charging from a correctly designed photovoltaic array into a compatible battery bank. Choose it for a modular RV, cabin, off-grid or backup installation where you want to select the panels, storage and power-conversion equipment separately. This model supports 12/24V battery systems; confirm the charging settings for the exact battery and BMS before installation.

Adjust to changing panel conditions

Maximum Power Point Tracking follows the solar array's operating point as sunlight and temperature change. The controller also addresses multiple power points under partial shading. Energy harvest still depends on the panels and conditions at the site, so use realistic seasonal solar estimates when planning recharge time.

Monitor and configure locally with Bluetooth

Built-in Bluetooth provides access through VictronConnect for setup, status information and firmware updates. VE.Direct supports a compatible wired connection to additional monitoring equipment. A GX device and communication cable are separate purchases; remote internet access requires a suitable network connection. Bluetooth access does not replace the battery's required protection or BMS.

Choose the correct panel string arrangement

The PV open-circuit voltage limit is 100V, and maximum PV short-circuit current is 60A. Calculate the highest expected string voltage in cold weather and total current from parallel strings before choosing panels. Panel wattage alone cannot establish compatibility. The PV voltage must also exceed the battery voltage by the margin specified in the manufacturer instructions for charging to start and continue.

Match solar input to battery charging capacity

The nominal PV sizing references are 700W at 12V, 1400W at 24V. The 50A rating is battery charging current, not panel input current or the current available to every connected load. Charging can be limited by available sunlight, battery acceptance, temperature or configured settings.

Plan power distribution separately

Connect the battery and PV wiring with correctly sized protection and cables. This controller is a battery charger, rather than a complete distribution panel or an AC power source. Size inverter and load wiring independently from the solar charging circuit.

What is included?

One exact-SKU SmartSolar controller. Panels, battery bank, battery BMS, inverter, external sensors, network equipment, wiring, fuses and disconnects are separate. Install the controller in a suitable protected location with the required ventilation. The electronics are IP43, while the connection area is IP22; the whole installation must be protected appropriately.

SmartSolar buying questions

Is an additional Bluetooth dongle needed?

No. This SmartSolar model has built-in Bluetooth for local VictronConnect access.

Does it produce 120V household AC power?

No. It is a DC solar battery charge controller. AC appliances require a compatible inverter and the rest of a designed power system.

Can I choose panels using watts alone?

No. Check cold-weather open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current and the operating voltage required to charge the bank, as well as the nominal PV power reference.

Compare solar charge controllers by battery voltage, PV limits, charging current and monitoring interfaces.
