Control charging from a DC source

This charger accepts an input range of 9–35V and offers an adjustable output of 10–35V. The wider operating range supports properly configured 12V and 24V applications, including conversion between suitable source and battery voltages. Confirm the entire input and output range for the exact installation. Select the battery charging profile to suit the battery manufacturer’s requirements. Lithium charging also requires the battery’s specified protection and BMS; the charger is not a replacement for either.

Set input and output current separately

Both input and output current can be configured from 1A to 50A. This helps the installer match charging to the alternator or other DC source, rather than simply demanding the maximum possible current. Allow for the source’s continuous capability, vehicle loads, cable length, fusing and temperature. A current setting cannot correct undersized wiring or an unsuitable source.

Understand the wattage at your battery voltage

The advertised 1400W figure depends on operating voltage. Manufacturer examples are 1400W at 28V and 50A; 700W at 14V and 50A; 600W at 12V and 50A. Output power follows output voltage multiplied by current and is also limited by operating conditions. Do not budget the full headline wattage at every battery voltage. Maximum efficiency is listed as 98.5%, rather than a guaranteed efficiency at every load.

Configure locally and connect system monitoring

Built-in Bluetooth provides local VictronConnect access. VE.Direct supports a compatible wired connection, including supported DVCC system control with suitable GX equipment. VE.Smart Networking can receive supported voltage, temperature and current measurements; synchronized charging is not supported. A GX device, network equipment and communication cables are separate purchases. Internet-based VRM monitoring requires a suitable connected system.

Choose charger mode or a regulated supply

The unit can be configured for battery-charger operation or power-supply operation. Select the mode and settings before putting the equipment into service. A regulated DC output is not an AC inverter output: household appliances still need the appropriate inverter or other suitable power equipment. Confirm load behavior and battery charging requirements with the installer.

Allow space for wiring and cooling

Dimensions are 138.1 × 124.4 × 53mm in height, width and depth, with approximate weight 0.52kg. The enclosure rating is IP65. The operating range is -20°C to +60°C, with output derating of 1.5% per degree above 40°C under the stated cooling conditions. Follow the manual for installation location, mounting and ventilation. Maximum terminal conductor size is 21.2mm² / 4 AWG; this is a terminal limit, not a cable-sizing recommendation.

What is included?

One ORI242417040 DC-DC battery charger. Batteries, alternator, GX monitoring equipment, network accessories, installation wiring, fuses and disconnects are separate. This is a component for a designed DC charging system, rather than a complete vehicle electrical kit.
