Choose the correct direction of conversion

This SKU converts a compatible 24V source into a 12V DC output. Its input range is 18–35V DC, and output is fixed at 12V ±3%. It is not interchangeable with the opposite-direction Orion IP67 model even though both are described as 1200W converters. Match the exact part number to the source and load voltage before ordering.

Run DC loads within both current and power limits

The continuous output-current rating is 100A, corresponding to a nominal 1200W at the specified output voltage. Account for the load’s startup demand as well as continuous operation, cable voltage drop and ambient temperature. A converter does not increase the energy stored in the source battery; the input source must supply the required power plus conversion losses.

Understand the non-isolated connection

This is a non-isolated converter with a common negative connection. It does not provide galvanic separation between the input and output systems. Choose an isolated converter when separate grounds or the application’s electrical design require isolation. Review the common-negative arrangement with the installer before integrating equipment with other grounded connections.

Use a fixed-voltage converter for its intended job

The Orion IP67 supplies regulated DC voltage for compatible equipment. It is not an adaptive battery charger, an AC inverter, or an MPPT solar controller. If the project needs a battery-specific bulk, absorption and float profile, select a suitable DC-DC battery charger. Do not assume that a nominal output voltage by itself establishes a correct lithium charging arrangement.

Plan protection and recovery behavior

The specified undervoltage shutdown and restart levels are 15V and 16V. Overload protection uses hiccup operation and recovers automatically after the fault is removed. Reverse-polarity protection requires the specified external fuse or circuit breaker, which is not included. Size protection and wiring for the actual installation and follow the manual rather than treating internal protection as the complete system protection plan.

Choose the correct environmental installation

The electronics are encapsulated in resin in a blue aluminium enclosure rated IP67. Follow the installation instructions for mounting and protection of the external connections. The current 1200W models use M6 bolted terminals, not the 1.8m flying leads shown on smaller Orion IP67 variants. Cables, lugs and external protective equipment are selected separately.

Check space and temperature

Manufacturer dimensions are 265 × 127 × 63mm, with a listed weight of 2.15kg. The operating range is -40°C to +70°C, with full rated output up to 40°C and a 3% per degree reduction above 40°C. Efficiency is listed at 96%. Allow suitable mounting space and heat dissipation; higher ambient temperature reduces the available output.
