Understand the capacity rating

The 106Ah figure is the C20 capacity measured to a 10.8V endpoint. At faster rates the same battery is rated 100Ah at C10 and 92Ah at C5. A larger load therefore changes available amp-hour capacity. Size the bank using the intended discharge rate and allowable discharge depth, rather than assuming the headline capacity is available at every load.

Why choose lead carbon?

Victron uses a lead-carbon composite in the negative plate to reduce sulfation during partial-state-of-charge operation and improve charge acceptance. This can suit cycling applications where a conventional lead-acid battery spends time below a full charge. It remains a lead-acid battery with specific charging and maintenance requirements; it should not be configured as a lithium battery.

Use cycle-life figures with their test conditions

The manufacturer datasheet lists at least 500 cycles at 100% depth of discharge, at least 1,000 at 60% and at least 1,400 at 40%, under the stated discharge and recharge tests. These are laboratory test figures, not a guarantee of a particular service life in your installation. Shallower planned cycling and correct charging should be considered when sizing daily storage.

Configure a suitable lead-carbon charging profile

For cycle service the recommended absorption voltage is 14.1–14.4V. Float voltage is 13.5–13.8V and storage voltage is 13.2–13.5V. The datasheet discusses charging around 0.2C and the time needed for absorption; faster charging can increase temperature and reduce service life. Match the charger settings and operating conditions to the exact battery instructions.

Allow for the battery weight and footprint

This 12V model weighs 36kg and measures 410 × 172 × 225mm in length, width and height. Plan a supported battery location, safe handling and access to the M8 insert terminals. Route and protect cables according to the complete system design. Do not assume the larger 160Ah model has the same footprint or use its product dimensions for this battery.

The listing is for one BAT612110081 lead-carbon battery. A charger, inverter, battery monitor, interconnects and protective devices are separate. Any series or parallel bank must be designed with compatible batteries and correct charging settings.
