VICTRON ENERGY
Cyrix-ct 12/24V 230A Battery Combiner
The Victron Cyrix-ct 12/24V 230A Battery Combiner automatically connects compatible same-voltage battery banks when charging conditions allow and separates them as voltage falls. It is useful for a designed dual-battery vehicle, marine or off-grid installation, with a 230A continuous-current rating.
Keep starter and service batteries coordinated
The microprocessor follows voltage trends and timing instead of responding to a single momentary reading. Bidirectional voltage sensing allows charging from either side of the relay when the operating conditions are met. This helps combine charging sources and battery banks without requiring the user to manually parallel the banks for ordinary operation.
Use matched 12V or matched 24V banks
The Cyrix-ct detects a 12V or 24V system automatically. Both banks must belong to the same system voltage: this is not a device for connecting a 12V bank to a 24V bank. It does not regulate charging voltage or limit alternator current like a DC-DC battery charger. Choose charging equipment and battery compatibility as part of the whole installation.
Check continuous current and starting demand separately
This exact model supports 230A continuously and a manufacturer cranking rating of 500A for five seconds. Those are different operating limits. Size cables, fuses, source equipment and terminals for the expected current and duty. The relay’s peak rating is not permission to run that current continuously.
Plan start assist and control wiring
An optional external switch or pushbutton can request a temporary parallel connection for approximately 30 seconds using the start-assist function. The switch and project wiring are selected separately. Follow the manufacturer wiring diagram for the correct control connection and protection rather than assuming the main power studs provide every required control connection.
Choose the correct package and connection size
This is retail SKU CYR010230010R, supplying one standalone Cyrix-ct 230A combiner, rather than the separate battery-combiner installation kit. Main power connections use M8 studs. One 1m control cable included. This version provides LED status indication.
Mount for the environment and service access
The unit measures 65 × 100 × 50mm in height, width and depth and weighs approximately 0.27kg. Its enclosure rating is IP54 and operating range is -40°C to +60°C. Quiescent draw while open is under 4mA. Follow the installation instructions for location, terminal protection and mounting; the rating does not make exposed battery connections suitable for unrestricted wet exposure.
Is it a universal lithium charging solution?
No. Battery chemistry, BMS control and charging-source limits still matter. A standard voltage-sensitive combiner does not provide the charge-disconnect control or current regulation required by every lithium installation. For a lithium conversion, have the installer determine whether a compatible BMS-controlled relay or a current-limited DC-DC charger is required.
What else should be on the equipment list?
Allow for the two compatible battery banks, charging source, correctly sized main cables, lugs, protective devices and any desired start-assist switch. These installation components are separate. Compare the 120A and 230A models using current, studs, dimensions and control features, rather than treating them as interchangeable packages.
