Read a simple charging-status indication

The colored indicator gives a quick visual guide to the condition of a compatible 12V lead-acid battery. It can help you decide when to connect the charger during storage or between trips. It is a voltage-based indication, rather than a precision remaining-capacity meter or a substitute for an amp-hour battery monitor.

For 12V lead-acid batteries only

The manufacturer specifies flooded, GEL and AGM 12V lead-acid batteries. Do not apply the indicator’s color thresholds to lithium batteries or a 24V or 48V bank. Different chemistries have different voltage characteristics. The accessory is intended for compatible Blue Smart and Blue Power IP65 chargers; the charger itself is not included.

Let the battery settle before interpreting the lights

Victron advises allowing approximately 30 minutes after battery use for the battery to return to a steady condition. Voltage immediately after charging or while supplying a load can give a misleading impression of state of charge. Read the indication with the operating conditions in mind and follow the battery manufacturer’s charging guidance.

Understand the manufacturer color bands

The manual associates green with approximately 80–100%, orange with 60–80% and red with 40–60% battery state. No light indicates below 40% and the need for immediate charging to reduce sulfation risk. These bands are the manufacturer’s guide for supported lead-acid batteries; they are not an accurate percentage readout for every battery or operating condition.

Use the M8 fused charging lead correctly

This model has M8 eyelet battery connections, a 30A ATO fuse and 0.3m cable length. The manual lists 3.3mm² / AWG12 cable, 30A maximum current and 0.9mA back-current drain. The fuse rating does not mean the accessory is a 30A charger. Confirm the charger connector, battery terminal hardware and cable route before fitting the lead.

Choose the right physical format

The eyelet version provides a compact indicator on a short 0.3m battery lead, with listed dimensions of 22 × 18 × 55mm. Choose an accessible position near the compatible battery connection, and protect the cable from strain and abrasion. It is different from the longer-lead panel-mount version, so select the format that suits your installation.

One exact battery-indicator accessory with its M8 eyelet lead and documented 30A ATO fuse is offered. The charger and battery are separate purchases. The manufacturer lists IP65 protection for the accessory; the complete charging installation must still follow the charger and battery environmental instructions. Check compatibility before adding it to an existing charging setup.
