A lockable DC isolation point for a planned PV circuit

Disconnect 1 solar string through a 2-pole, 40A enclosure.

The RICH SOLAR RS-i2 is an outdoor PV DC quick-disconnect with 2 poles arranged for 1 solar string. Its published ratings include 1,500V insulation voltage, 40A thermal current, IP66NW ingress protection and arc suppression in under 3 milliseconds.

A 1,500V insulation rating is not a universal array allowance

The final string voltage, operating current, fault current, conductor size and switching arrangement must fit the disconnect, connected equipment and local code. Follow the current wiring diagram and use a qualified installer for high-voltage DC work.

Why it stands out

Visible, lockable isolation for solar service work

Fast DC interruptionRICH SOLAR lists arc suppression in under 3 milliseconds under the stated device conditions.
Outdoor enclosureThe IP66NW housing and flame-retardant UL94 V-0 polycarbonate are intended for correctly installed outdoor service.
SAFE-LOCK handleThree rotary positions and a lockout option help make the disconnect state clear and reduce casual tampering.

System fit

Place the disconnect where the circuit can be safely isolated and serviced.

Allow for the 9.8 × 3.8 × 4.3 in enclosure, 1.3 lb weight, conductor bend radius, weatherproof cable entries and required clearances. Confirm DC polarity, pole arrangement, enclosure orientation, grounding and whether the site requires additional rapid-shutdown or emergency-disconnect equipment.

Best-fit projectsOff-grid or grid-connected PV circuits using 1 string and a design that fits the 2-pole arrangement and every electrical rating.
Installer checksMaximum and cold-weather string voltage, operating and fault current, DC-rated conductors and terminals, cable glands, lockout location, labeling and code-required disconnects.

Common questions

RS-i2 system questions

Can I use it for any 1,500V solar array?

No. Insulation voltage is only one rating. The circuit must also fit the device's current, pole, string, switching, enclosure and code requirements.

Does it replace a fuse, breaker or rapid shutdown?

Not automatically. A disconnect provides isolation; overcurrent protection and rapid-shutdown functions are separate design requirements unless explicitly covered by listed equipment.

Can it be installed outdoors?

RICH SOLAR lists IP66NW protection. Correct mounting, cable entries, seals, drainage, UV exposure and service clearances still matter.

Who should install a high-voltage PV disconnect?

Use a qualified solar or electrical professional familiar with DC arc hazards, conductor polarity, torque, lockout, labeling and local requirements.
