Cranking power plus a serious house bank

Start the engine, then keep the onboard loads running.

The Epoch DP12300H is a true dual-purpose Group 8D LiFePO4 battery: 300Ah of deep-cycle capacity paired with manufacturer-rated engine-cranking output. Bluetooth, internal heating, IP67 sealing and Victron CAN communication round out a battery built for demanding marine and mobile power systems.

Why it stands out

One battery designed for two demanding jobs

Real cranking capability

Epoch rates the DP12300H for 1,000A at 5 seconds and 800A at 10 seconds, giving compatible engines the short-duration output they need without turning every deep-cycle battery claim into a starting claim.

300Ah for house loads

Store 3,840Wh nominal energy for electronics, lighting, refrigeration, pumps and inverter loads while reducing the number of battery cases and interconnects in a large 12V bank.

Victron CAN communication

Native CAN communication supports compatible Victron systems for BMS-managed status and limits. Correct cabling, termination, firmware and GX configuration are still required.

Weather and cold support

An IP67 enclosure helps protect the battery from dust and temporary water immersion under the rating's test conditions, while internal heating supports charging in sub-zero conditions within BMS limits.

Built for high-demand marine and mobile systems

  • Marine engine and house power: combine approved engine starting with a substantial onboard deep-cycle reserve.
  • Large RV and overland builds: support high-output inverters and long-runtime 12V loads when the complete electrical system is correctly sized.
  • Cold-weather installations: use internal heating to support charging when temperature falls below freezing and incoming current is available.
  • Expandable banks: Epoch lists up to four matched batteries in series or sixteen in parallel when installed under its current configuration rules.

Fit and system check

Confirm the engine, charger and battery bay

Cranking approval is application-specific: verify the engine manufacturer's required cranking current, alternator behavior, cable size, protection and current Epoch compatibility guidance before installation.

  • Physical size is 19.70 × 10.5 × 9.75 in and weight is 81 lb. Confirm tray, hold-down, lifting path, service access and terminal clearance.
  • Use LiFePO4-compatible charging. Epoch lists 14.2-14.6V bulk/absorption, 13.4-13.8V float, equalization disabled and temperature compensation disabled.
  • The 1,000A and 800A ratings are short cranking peaks, not continuous-load ratings. Design continuous loads around the 300A maximum and the complete system.
  • A qualified installer should verify alternator protection, fusing, disconnects, busbars, cable ampacity, charger programming and applicable marine or vehicle standards.

Manufacturer protection

6,000+ cycles and an 11-year Epoch warranty

Epoch lists 6,000+ cycles and an 11-year manufacturer warranty for the DP12300H. Warranty eligibility and remedies depend on the current written terms, approved use, installation and claim requirements.

Common questions

Is this really an engine-starting battery?

Yes. Epoch expressly rates the DP12300H as a dual-purpose cranking and deep-cycle model. Your exact engine and charging system still need to meet Epoch's compatibility requirements.

Can it run a large inverter?

Its 300A continuous discharge rating can support demanding 12V inverter loads when startup surge, cable length, voltage drop, fusing, busbars and battery state of charge are all engineered for the inverter.

Does IP67 mean it can stay submerged?

No. IP67 is a controlled dust and temporary-immersion test rating. Install the battery securely in a protected location and never treat the enclosure as approval for permanent submersion or exposed washdown.

Can I build a larger bank?

Yes. Epoch lists up to four matched units in series and sixteen in parallel. Follow its current manual for matching, state-of-charge, communication, branch protection, cabling and commissioning requirements.
