Shunt-based battery visibility across an 8–120V system

Track voltage, current and state of charge through a 500A shunt.

The RICH SOLAR RS-BM500 is a wall-mount battery monitor with a 500A shunt for 8–120V battery systems. When every battery-negative load and charger path is routed through the shunt, the display can track voltage, current, consumed capacity and estimated state of charge.

The shunt must be the only path from battery negative

For accurate current and capacity tracking, the battery negative connects to the shunt's B− side and every system-negative connection goes on the load side. A bypassed negative cable will not be measured.

Why it stands out

See more than battery voltage alone

Bidirectional currentA shunt measures charging and discharging current so the display can show how energy is moving through the bank.
Capacity trackingConfigure the monitor for the battery bank and use it to estimate consumed amp-hours and remaining capacity alongside voltage.
Remote displayMount the display where it is easy to read while keeping the high-current shunt close to the battery bank.

System fit

Design the negative bus and display route before cutting cables.

The shunt connection must carry the full expected continuous and surge current. Choose correctly sized conductors and lugs, protect the positive sense lead as required, and route the shielded display cable away from damage and interference.

Strong use casesRVs, boats, vans, cabins and backup banks that need a dedicated battery monitor across an 8–120V architecture.
Calibration mattersEnter the correct bank capacity, fully charge and synchronize as directed, then account for battery aging, temperature and charge efficiency when reading state of charge.

In the box

Manufacturer-referenced RS-BM500 components

  • 1 × RS-BM500 wall-mount display
  • 1 × 500A current shunt
  • 1 × shielded shunt-to-display cable
  • 1 × B+ voltage-sense wire

Heavy battery cables, replacement lugs, positive-side fuse, mounting panel, metal bezel and installation labor are not listed as included. The metal bezel is a separate product.

Product confidence

Accurate installation is part of accurate monitoring

Capacity, voltage and current accuracy depend on correct shunt placement, conductor routing, configuration and synchronization. Follow the current RICH SOLAR instructions and written warranty terms.

Common questions

RS-BM500 setup questions

Will it work with lithium and lead-acid batteries?

The monitor measures voltage and current rather than applying a charge profile. Configure bank capacity and synchronization for the exact battery system and use the battery maker's operating limits.

Can any negative cable stay on the battery terminal?

No load or charger negative should bypass the shunt. The battery-to-shunt link should be the only system path from battery negative for complete current measurement.

Does the listing include the metal bezel?

No. This listing is for the RS-BM500 monitor system; the RS-BM500BZ metal bezel is sold separately.

Is 500A enough for my inverter?

Compare the complete bank's continuous and surge current with the shunt rating, cable and lug ratings, and monitor instructions. Large inverters can exceed 500A on low-voltage banks.
