MPPT charging for a measured 12V or 24V system

Manage up to 40A of solar charging with automatic 12V/24V detection.

The RICH SOLAR 40A MPPT Controller (RS-MPPT40) is built for RV, boat, cabin and off-grid battery systems. Its published limits pair 40A battery-charging current with 100V maximum solar input voltage and a 50A maximum PV short-circuit current.

At a glance

The four electrical limits to match first

40AMax charge current
12/24V autoBattery voltage
100VDCMax solar input
50AMax PV short current
Array wattage never replaces voltage and current checks

Use the current controller manual for the allowed array wattage at the selected battery voltage. String voltage, parallel current, conductor size and protection must remain inside every published limit.

Why it stands out

Efficient charging with configurable battery support

MPPT trackingRICH SOLAR lists up to 99% tracking efficiency and up to 98% peak conversion efficiency under the stated conditions.
Multiple battery profilesPublished selections cover sealed, gel, flooded and lithium batteries; match the exact voltage settings to the battery manual.
LCD, load control and RS232The display and indicators show system information and errors, a 20A load output supports defined DC loads, and RS232 supports the compatible BT-1 module.

System fit

Match the array, battery and wiring as one circuit.

Allow for the 9.37 × 6.81 × 2.85 in enclosure, 4.41 lb weight, ventilation, conductor bend radius and service access. Confirm cold-weather array voltage, current, terminal capacity, grounding and environmental protection.

Strong use casesProtected RV and marine installations, cabins and stationary off-grid systems with a 12V or 24V bank and an array inside the controller limits.
Confirm before wiringBattery profile, cold-weather array voltage, parallel current, disconnects, overcurrent protection, cable size, load-output use and whether BT-1 monitoring is needed.

Follow RICH SOLAR's current instructions for battery profiles, array limits, load control, wiring, mounting and environmental conditions. Warranty eligibility and remedies follow the current written terms.

Common questions

RS-MPPT40 system-design questions

How much solar can I connect?

Use the current manual's array-wattage limit for the selected battery voltage, while also keeping the complete array below 100VDC and within PV current limits.

Will it charge lithium batteries?

A lithium selection is listed. Confirm the exact battery maker's required charge voltage, temperature rules and BMS behavior before choosing the profile.

Can it be installed outdoors?

Do not assume weatherproof installation. Follow the manual's environmental requirements and protect the controller and terminals from water, debris and conductive contamination.

Does the 20A load output mean 40A of appliance power?

No. The battery-charging path is rated 40A and the separate load output is rated 20A. Size each circuit and its protection for its own limit.
